Dr. Alexander S. Rukhlenko received his degree in Radiophysics and Electronics (with distinction) from the Belarusian State University, Minsk, in 1978, and received the Ph. D. degree from the Minsk Radio Engineering Institute in 1989. From 1980 to 1993, he was with the Laboratory of Acousto- and Optoelectronics at the Minsk Radio Engineering Institute where he was responsible for research and development of the acoustoelectronic Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) devices and their applications to signal processing. In 1993, he joined Semiconductor Physics Department at the Belarusian State University to continue his SAW research. He has worked as Principal Researcher at the Belarusian State University where he has been a head of the SAW devices group and managed multiple SAW research projects until 2001. Dr. A.S.Rukhlenko is one of the leading Russian specialists in the field of SAW computer-aided design (SAWCAD). He has successfully combined his research activities with the consulting of industrial companies and institutions involved in SAW technology. His research work is known and appreciated abroad and he contributed greatly to computer-aided design of SAW filters based on the IBM PC compatible platform as well as to the practical development of SAW products. His state-of-the-art SAWCAD software was demonstrated to and appreciated by the recognized SAW experts (Dr. D.P.Morgan (Great Britain), Dr. C.C.W. Ruppel ("EPCOS AG", former "Siemens-AG", Germany), Dr. J.-M. Hode ("Temex Microsonics", former "Thomson-Microsonics", France), Dr. J. Hines ("TriQuint Semiconductor, Inc.", former "SAWTEK, Inc", USA), Dr. D.-P. Chen ("Vectron International", USA), Dr. D.C. Malocha (University of Central Florida, CAAT, USA), Dr. R. Weigel (Technical University of Munich, Germany)), and many others. In 1995, he became a winner of the SAW filter design competition organized among SAW research groups and specialists of the former USSR by the American company SAWTEK, Inc. which is the leading SAW filter manufacturer in the USA and one of the global leaders in SAW design and production. He worked with SAWTEK as a SAW consultant for 18 months in 1995-1996 including 6 months stay in the USA. He stayed at the Technical University of Munich , Department of Microwave Engineering for 3 months in 1995 as a visiting scientist within scientific exchange program where he worked on the development of software for the acoustic wave propagation study in piezoelectric crystals. He worked as a visiting SAW designer for LG Company, Seoul, South Korea in 1997-1998 where he has been engaged in designing SAW filters for mobile and wireless communications (CDMA, PCS, GSM, WLL, WLAN, etc.). He worked as consultant for foreign SAW companies and universities in 1999-2001. Since September 2001 he has been invited to work as Principal Engineer at the Swiss company TEMEX SAW (Neuchatel) where he was responsible for design of bidirectional and SPUDT IF SAW filters.in 2001-2002. His present research interests comprise computer-aided design of SAW devices, problems of analysis, synthesis, and simulation of bidirectional SAW filters, design techniques of low-loss IF and RF SAW filters, modeling bidirectional interdigital transducers and single phase unidirectional transducers (SPUDT), simulation of the multi-component SAW devices, reflective SPUDT (RSPUDT) SAW filter optimization, simulation of the natural SPUDT (NSPUDT) devices, slanted finger (tapered) bidirectional and SPUDT wideband low-loss SAW filters, one- and two-port SAW resonators (SAW/LSAW substrates) , etc. The most recent research interests include frequency control (crystal oscillator simulation, double oven controlled oscillator (DOCXO) stabilization for GPS), Micro ElectroMechanical Systems (MEMS), and SAW MEMS deviices computer-aided design and simulation. He is one of the top MATLAB experts to exploit full MATLAB power and flexibility in technical computing including (but not limited to) SAW devices computer-aided design, with his unique experience to interface MATLAB software with applications in C/C++ or FORTRAN. His is an author of the comprehensive proprietary CAD software in Fortran and MATLAB (professional toolboxes). He has more than 40 publications on acoustoelectronics. Some principal results were presented at the IEEE Frequency Control Symposium (1992, 1993), IEEE Ultrasonics Symposium (1994, 1995) and in the international periodicals. Currently, Dr. A.S.Rukhlenko lives in Switzerland and he works as an independent SAW consultant. He provides a wide spectrum of SAW consulting activities including but not limited to the design of the customized SAW filters, development of the state-of-the-art SAW filter computer-aided design, SAW research and development, SAW filter education and training, SAW filter design and manufacture foundry service support (SAW filter prototype development and samples manufacture within 2-3 weeks), chip and quality SAW filter photomask foundry service (located in Belarus), etc. He also takes part in DOCXO development for GPS and MEMS simulation. |
